You thought your landscape was pretty.

I am looking forward to seeing your bayous, your (salt dome) "islands", the gulf coast, New Orleans, the food... 2012 is going to be fun!

Eh.
Don't get your hopes up.
Except for what's on the dinner table.
Bayou Lafouche isn't exactly a tourist attraction.
Only thing natural of note in LA is probably how ginormous the Mississippi is here.

Hotel in the Quarter in NO LA, go to BR for the game. You'll have a blast.

I plan on hitting up Breaux Bridge/Lafayette, Lake Peigneur, Avery Island, and places in between there and NOLA. It may seem boring to you, but it is a very different place for 5th generation northwesterner.

There are some beautiful parts, and like most states, some very not pretty parts

But all of the not pretty parts are on ULL's campus.

And typically you have to drive through a lot of the not so pretty parts to get a glimpse of the beautiful parts.
I think it is a marvel of engineering how they can keep the 3G network on I-10 to NO even when driving through the fricking swamps.

Yes, got to take a boat tour of the swamps!
ST,
If you like Sunnyvale Trailer Park, you would love parts of Pierce County, WA.

You say that BEFORE you experience our humidity/temperature.
Although I think the return trip may be late September so you might be spared that.

It can be... if you're wanting to see the largest sewage river
