quote:

The Oxford English Dictionary (OED) defines the term as "twenty four hours a day, seven days a week; constantly". It lists its first reference to 24/7 as from US magazine Sports Illustrated in 1983.

The man to use it was basketball player Jerry Reynolds and he was talking about his jump shot. This is when a player releases the ball in mid-air and Reynolds said his was "good 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year".

I quess next they will say the old 3-5-9 saying is something new also.

24-7-365 was common in business long, long ago.

Hexx look in some old phone books on service calls, it was around well before 1970, and is an old AC, pumber, etc saying.

3-5-9 is pay 3% interest, loan at 5% interest, be on the golf course by 9am (that was around before the 1940's), it's a banker saying.

I threw out my old phone books from the 60's a few weeks ago, can you scan a couple of plumber ads with 24/7/365 in them, I'd like to see them...thanks

It must be an old banker saying, I've never heard of it before.

Manute Bol is credited with being the first individual to use the phrase 'my bad". He should have had it trademarked because it was incorporated into the lexicon of every little urban wannabe for years.

I invented the term "Silent but deadly" about referring to quiet flatulence. But I get no credit.
