Both Baker Mayfield, Cam Newton and Jake Coker were college backups who did quite well after transfering.

And Tom Brady was a backup at Michigan for year before becoming what he did in the NFL.

Not saying Burrow is any of them, just pointing out that former backups can become very good.

Brady? Brady rose from being like sixth on the depth chart to starting every game his Jr and Sr years. Then went out and beat out an All Pro in Bledsoe. His talent was recognized. Burrow didn’t win the job.

Coker wasn’t a beast.

Mayfield started early.

Y’all keep pointing out people who were backup as freshmen or Sophomore. We all know a super freshman should sit behind a pretty good senior.

But, if you are special (as was mentioned). You don’t lose out in the QB battle your Jr year
