And then name five coaches better than Miles that you think will leave their team to coach at LSU.
He appears reluctant to do that. He could have done that yesterday.

I don't expect LSU to win every SEC game. I hope for it to happen, but I'm realistic about the differences between hope and chance. There are other very (sometimes more) talented teams in the SEC. We play Bama and Auburn every year. When Bama is down, Auburn is up. When Auburn is down, Bama is up. And we play Florida every year; every other year it's in the Swamp. It's not realistic to expect to beat every evenly matched team.
I understand odds. I understand variables. I understand that, sometimes, the ball bounces funny. Ole Miss, Miss State, and Arky can beat anybody on some weeks.
I don't expect LSU to have a losing SEC record. While we may have only an even chance of winning some games (Florida and Bama), we have a better or much better than even chance of winning most games. Losing no more than one or two SEC games a year is acceptable to me. Some years, LSU will win them all; however, it is not realistic to expect going undefeated every year.
I recognize problems than can't be solved easily (Ryan Perrilloux, 2009 O-line), and problems that should be solved (2008 D-coordinator, 2009 O-play-calling, QB play). LSU's record in 2008 and 2009 would have been (possibly much) better if Perrilloux hadn't screwed up. That's an undeniable fact. I can't fault Miles for recruiting him, and I applaud Miles for booting him. I applaud Miles for hiring Chavis. I hope that Crowton, the O-line, and QB play improve in 2010. It's a process. Miles appears to learn.
I don't skew statistics to advance a viewpoint. I don't spout Miles' five year record, nor do I spout his two year record. The five year record does not reflect the trend. Neither does the two year record. Sure, we were 8-8 in the SEC for the last two years, but that was 3-5 in 2008, and 5-3 in 2009. I realistically expect a better result in 2010.
I won't accept inexcusable mediocrity. I think there are acceptable reasons for the past two years. It's hard to think of an acceptable excuse for anything less than a winning SEC record this year.
I understand that there are worse places than being in the frying pan. LSU continues to recruit well. IMHO, LSU's program is looking very good for 2010. I don't see any available coaches that are more valuable to LSU than Miles right now. After this season, that view might change.
So call me a understands-perfection-is-not-easily-attained-but-realistically-expects-success-and-understands-that-you-have-to-play-them-all-and-the-grass-is-not-always-greener-on-the-side-so-lets-at-least-be-honest-about-the-facts-tiger.
Goddamn, I couldn't have said that better if you offered me an ever-horny Marissa frickin Miller with a lifetime supply of Crown XR!
