Have we talked about how much NIL is doing for WBB?

While the quality of collegiate sport products have diminished by and large, WBB teams have quietly continued building rosters of 4-year players & the sport feels the way many college athletics did ~20+ years ago.

The girls themselves play the game more like the team sport that it used to look like in the Celtics heyday. Teams build chemistry because the best players aren’t all one & done. Even casual fans know the roster.

Fan support in BR is through the roof. PMAC was something special last night. I am 100% down with this — the old heads really need to drop the “muh girls” BS. If it bugs you, log TF off.

WBB is closer to MBB than any other women’s sport to its men’s counterpart, and for LSU at present it is an undeniably better product.

WBB is the one sport where there is enough fan support to where the college elites make more money than the pro sport option.

And yet I still don’t care. Let me know when Men’s bball is competitive again.

I think you’re missing the bulk of the point by ignoring the title & 90% of the post, instead choosing to digest only the last paragraph.

Was there a point in time that women’s basketball wasn’t a 4yr sport?

Also most LSU’s roster is transfers lol

I’m curious how the NIL fund splits up football, baseball, and basketball

1. It always was, but it took a while for the culture of men’s NCAA to become enough of a clusterfk to make a noticeable difference in the product

2. Mulkey is in year 3. That’s why our team has transfers — Reese and Flaujae equivalents don’t come back to a college men’s team. USC roster was full of seniors & they’re ranked 1st in the country.

Mulkey is the reason you like WBB; not NIL

Her pattern shows she will always chase star players in the portal.

LSU being good at WBB isn’t new. Augustus ringing any bells?

It was never as much fun as the past two years.

You are talking out of your arse, as usual.

Mulkey would MUCH prefer to build a program through recruits and development. She has had to "chase star players in the portal" these first couple years just to be able to compete. She is still going to use the portal, but as we move forward, expect her to be less reliant on it to build a roster.

She’s recruited 3 all Americans in 2 offseasons.

Imagine her turning down AA’s that want to come play at lsu. Lmao.

That’s totally, 100% subjective.

Tho not even sure how it applies to your OP.

WBB still has no parity. Just different teams are good.

Maybe you’re misreading me — I’d also like to see MBB put it together. It’s fun in a different way. Not quitting men’s sports lol.

I’m commenting on the fact I could see WBB carving out a unique niche in college athletics.

It has a distinct appeal — same way we used to argue college sports generally had distinct appeal from the pros …despite pros obviously being a higher level of competition.
