The gymnastics program has it together because Alleva lets DD run the show.
But let's not forget that every dime comes from football. Gymnastics is still costing money because there is simply none to be made, even with a sold out PMAC.

They are missing the leadership of Bugs, Sydney and Shea. They did a tremendous job in the development of the young gymnasts the last two years. This is now probably McKenna's team but with the injury she has not been able to lead by example. She will adjust and so will the team. Mya Hambrick and maybe Lexie Priesman or Sarah Finnegan may be able to assume some leadership too.
They are just finding their way right now but by February the rotations and roles will be sorted out for the stretch run. All but two teams would love to have their problem.

It may be hard to quantify but the gymnastics program is an an incredible ambassador for the image of LSU and LSU athletics. These ladies are competing without the hope of future riches of other athletes in the other programs. Yet, they put in some incredible training hours all the same.
Just as important, they don't have the negativity that occurs with other sports , the arrests, academic issues, drug problems and suspensions, and other disruptive behaviors. All this while being the best athletes on campus and the most successful programs.
For the record not many other programs besides football are self sustaining either.
