Leonard Fournette is not even the best St. Aug alumn to wear number 7 who played in the 2010s.

As much as i love TM7, he doesnt actually own any lsu records.

neither does Patrick Peterson. Leonard Fournette doesn't have any national awards to his credit. Mathieu was a Heisman finalist and the Bednarick Award Winner. Peterson won the Thorpe and Bednarick. Mathieu was arguably the best playmaker on defense in school history. Stats and records don't necessarily account for the difference he made on the field.

I love Hester for the way he played and for his love for LSU. But I think he would laugh at being called player of the decade.

As much as I loved Bert Jones, in the 70's Tommy Casanova was absolutely the best player that played the game, maybe the best ever.

Agreed but Van Buren is close.

The best in a decade of great players, teammates even

quote:

1960's - Jerry Stovall

Probably. Bevan probably the only real competition. Stovall was the only consensus All American of the decade.

quote:

1970's - Tommy Casanova

Yes - and he had a lot of competition for the decade, mainly from teammates on the last great McClendon teams - Warren Capone, for one, as well as Burt Jones. I'm almost ready to call it 1a - Casanova and 1b Charles Alexander - but I don't disagree with TC getting the top spot.

quote:

1980's - Wendell Davis

There are a lot of guys to like in the 1980s - sentimental favorites of mine - Hilliard, Martin, Andolsek, Albergamo, Lance Hill - as well as defensive greats Michael Brooks, James Britt, and Henry Thomas (among others). But, Wendell Davis still probably comes out on top.

quote:

1990's - Kevin Faulk

The Dinardo teams (Faulk's teammates) have the only real competitors - Faneca, McClure and Booger - Faulk did so many things for the team - Faulk.

quote:

2000's - Josh Reed

Meh - I think it has to be a cat that played on 1 of the 2 championships we won during the decade, honestly. We have so many candidates - SEVEN consensus All Americans for the decade, including Reed. It's probably Dorsey. Reed did have a phenomenal season and a half - maybe the best ever, statistically for any LSU player in history.

quote:

2010's - Leonard Fournette

I have to disqualify Honey Badger - if he'd finished here, he would almost certainly been difficult to beat. It's Peterson or Buga - too close to call, honestly. (Peterson was a tweener - best year was 2010, but he was 3 and out. Otherwise, we have to put Peterson in the conversation for the aughts.)

Lol. Players are judged by the statistics they put up.

LF is the best rb in lsu history.
He led the sec in all purpose yards as a true freshman.
He followed that season up by having the greteast rushing season in lsu history.
His true sophomore year he had the 2nd most rushing yards per game in SEC HISTORY.

You might need to check the record book again.

Are you really counting a ff record as a legit record?

season and a half? he played WR the entire 2000 season

2000 Season:
Game 1 v WCU: 137 1 TD
Game 2 v Houston - 76 yards
Game 3 v Auburn - 167 yards 2 TDs
Game 4 v UAB - 53 yards
Game 5 v UT - 146 yards 3 TDs
Game 6 v Florida - 50 yards
Game 7 v UK - 67 yards 1 TD
Game 8 v State - 113 yards 1 TD
Game 9 v Alabama - 129 yards 2 TDs
Game 10 v Ole Miss - 173 yards
Game 11 v Arkansas - 16 yards
Game 12 v Ga Tech - 96 yards 1 TD

Season (including Bowl game): 1319 yards and 12 TDs

In 2001, he set, at the time, the SEC career record for receiving yards and still holds the SEC record for single season yards in only 12 games that officially count. Had the bowl game counted, his record would be damn near unbreakable with 1979 yards on 108 receptions. He was the Belitnekoff Award winner and a consensus AA. he was unstoppable in 2001 and probably one of, if not the, most dominant players we've ever had.

He didn't switch to WR mid-season in 2000. He was great the entire year.

I'm just going to assume this is a troll. Larry Foster's best season was 722 yards with 4 TDs
