Autzen is known for its crowd noise. On October 27, 2007, during a 24-17 defeat of the USC Trojans, a record crowd of 59,277 fans was recorded at 127.2 decibels.

Yea "DEATH VALLEY" was louder when we got the news, and we got to watch Tebow cry

Oh and good luck to you too and welcome.

These Oregon drive by posters show up reliably here, year after year making these claims.

I DO like that stadium. The crowd is right on the field. So go Ducks...

Good luck with that whole "we are the loudest third place team in the 5th best conference thing".

There is NO way to describe something like LSU v UF in 07 to someone who doesn't know.

They just don't know....

But we get to FEEL it in three more days !

The loudest stadium sound ever recorded was actually 133.6 dbs in Husky Stadium at the University of Washington. It was Sept 19, 1992 vs. Nebraska.

I have a cousin in eugene and he agrees that autzen gets loud (the fans are almost on top the field), but there is no comaparison in gameday activities to LSU.

It's all in how the valley was built in sections as to why we can get sooo loud. Well there is also the almost 93,000 drunk coonasses

ETA: Why is he not posting anymore, I wanted to see some responces from him.

My roommate at LSU and longtime friend has lived in Eugene,Oregon for the last 13 years. I've been to Autzen stadium and yes it is quite nice and loud for its size.

That being said Autzen in no way compares to Tiger Stadium or Jordan Hare or the Swamp for that matter.

My friend has been an Oregon season ticket holder for 12 years, but he will quickly agree with the above.

and there you have it........thread, BUSTED.

quack

Funny how everyone always has "a friend" who is always a fan of the opposition but who always agrees with the homer on the Rant.

I posted awhile back all the stats and Youtube clips of the various stadiums. The Autzen one is pretty cool and gives a good idea of the sound which is louder than the others. You can search for it on Youtube.

Want to know what Autzen really sounds like?

The difference with Autzen is the fans stand the whole freaking time, scream the whole time (not just on big plays) and to tell you the truth it gets annoyingly loud and never lets up. Every time I watch a game there I leave with a piercing headache.

129 decibels or whatever is loud enough for me and loud enough for most humans. If you want to claim anything louder for a sustained period of time (not just jumping up and down on a big play-earthquake game) so be it. I don't think anyone would enjoy watching a game like that and frankly I know it's not true given what all the other Tiger fans say on this board about how no one stands anymore, no one makes noise all game, et al. The fact is you just can't duplicate Autzen (no stadium can) because that sucker is built into ground and the sound just swirls inside the stadium. If they ever added seating around 90,000 then games would be unwatchable.

It's unfortunate there are so many experts who have never been there or care to experience other stadiums.

Case in point. Remind me on that no "standing rule" again at Tiger Stadium and how so many fans were for it...only had pages and pages of threads on it last week on the Rant.
