When I played at Redemptorist and we would go to North La, we would sometime stop at Googy’s parents house and swim, eat etc. Huck had a lasting relationship with him and his parents.

So a very close family member of my mine was the assistant coach for Rapides during those years. He coached with Skinner and Huckabay. I grew up hearing all the stories of Googy making over 200 plus free throws with out missing. And how Bunkie, who was in Rapides’ district, only had one starter not taller than Rapides’ tallest.

I was just about to ask him if he WAS Googy French! I was at Lecompte Elementary at the time but my older brother and sister were at RHS in those years. Great hustle, defense and team ball.

Also, I think I recall CHR marrying the head cheerleader at RHS.

That's a memory. We (Homer) lost to Rapides in baseball playoffs. Lost 1 to 0 . Gave up 1 hit. Their pitcher had a no hitter. In 1966
