no one said that.

no one said that either so how can you agree?

Dotson is a true freshmen and you want him gone?

Trent's not gonna run kids off. I feel pretty certain on that.

Scholarships are renewable every year so technically he's breaking no rules, but my perception of Trent is that he's a better man than to stoop to such loopholes. He'll stay committed to a kid, even one he did not sign.

And there ain't a heck of a whole lot of coaches who would do that. Even old sanctimonious Bobby Knight, he ran alot of kids off like that. Dale did it all the time too.

I meant you can't sign 8 guys in one class...

Yes you are exactly right that Trent is not going to do such a thing as run a guy off but in the case of Green it might be wise to tell the kid he would be better off and play more at another school. It would be to his advantage and he might want to go closer to home. For sure a coach does not want to get the brand of running guys off. So we all will have to wait and see what happens. Maybe Green will turn the corner and be a beast next year?

I've probably been too critical of the kid here and that's reall not fair. I hope the kid can make that quantam leap and be a significant contributor for us. I would be happy for him.

But in hoops more than any of the other sports I watch alot, you can usually tell pretty early on about these kids. There are exceptions, but not as many as you might think if you really look at it.

I think Trent was really counting on Dotson for this year. Hasn't worked out. I don't know how much of that is injury and how much is maybe not as good as TJ thought. But I hope he can come around as well.

He plays scared shitless and can't guard anyone on D. So far, he has been a bust.

I've heard, but sometimes you can see past the injury. I remember Randy Livingston being half-crippled but in the short time he played for us the brilliance was obvious.

Of course Dotson's no Livingston and maybe his strength was in athleticism which would explain alot.

It doesn't seem to be in shooting though, which I think Trent thought he could help with.

Thornton at least had some idea of proper positioning on defense, and could catch the ball a bit better but I can see some similarities.

In regards to rebounding:

talent and athleticism makes up for a lot of mistakes/missed assignments/blockouts. When you have a team with little talent/athleticism all the mistakes will show.

I doubt trent is not teaching rebounding as well as last year but when you have guys like chris johnson grabbing boards instead of ludwig it is a little easier.

Without question. But there are things that can be coached that don't take talent and I was beginning to wonder.

Finally, at Vandy I saw some coaching show through the talent deficiency, which I was glad to finally see.

We don't need Green to be an All-SEC player. We need him to be a solid back-up to Malcolm White for the next two seasons. If he could score 6 points per game, grab a few boards and play better defense, that is all we need from him.

Prior to Saturday, I doubted he could do even that. Now I don't. No one is saying he has starting potential, because I don't think he does. (although he is just as good as Geert Hammink was at this point, and he was All-SEC as a 5th-year senior and was a first-round draft pick. You just never know).

Bubba, we need to bring Geert back to teach Garrett how to catch and hold on to the ball...

I always knocked Geert for this until his senior year, but somehow he figured it out.
