It’s something to do with a team scheduling Hawaii.
Hawaii or an an opponent of Hawaii who gets an extra bye week due to traveling back and forth to the islands.
Duquense was a Hawaii opponent this year. Bye the week after Hawaii and this coming weekend.

This sounds like a weak-arse cope.
Not at all, it’d be a logical competitive action to take. You’re not dictating the other school’s schedule, you’re contracting with a school for a home-and-home and you include it in the terms of the contract. It’s mutually beneficial. If they don’t agree perhaps you schedule someone else.
May prevent a similar occurrence as we’re facing now where a game 1 loss to a team who had a warm up is threatening our playoff chances. Is what it is.

Would be a real shame if this costs us a spot in playoffs. I don't think it will but we are the only 2 loss team in top 6.
Exactly. So a less-impressive USC, with hardly the competition faced, jumps you simply because you have 2 losses to its one. Now you earned the loss, but you do what you have to do to increase your chances in the future to get to the playoffs. Of course under a 12-team format you’re not sweating it.

Are you serious!!!
LSU strength of schedule is much stronger than USC,that blocked extra point is hurting LSU although Florida State is ranked very decently. Let's see if USC will get through Notre Dame and Oregon. LSU beat 2 teams ranked in the top Top 10, USC 0,and if LSU can pull off the upset of the #1 ranked team in the country which would be their 3rd Top 10 victory, it would hard not to vote them in. But LSU regardless of how well they may play will be dealing with jealous coaches from jealous conferences who does not want to see 2 SEC teams in the playoffs, end of story. It's that plain in simple last season Alabama needed to beat Georgia to get in and those coaches of the other conferences and the media who cover them is not about to let that happen again although they would be ok with the Big Ten getting 2 teams in.

I think you’re misunderstanding my post. I’m agreeing with you.

Not everybody gets to put Duquesne on the schedule. That's a privilege. You have to fight the likes of Stonehill, Merrimack, and Thomas More to get on that schedule.
I don't see that happening for scrubs like LSU.

It feels really good to be talking about playoffs again.

This response is full of objective facts, citation to rules, and an argument to reason. You in the right place?

I would assume LSU could write something into contracts to be able to avoid this in the future.
One can't "assume" anything. This has been going on at LSU for decades now, starting with the blow-out loss to Virginia Tech twenty years ago.
LSU has also been known to play their season-opening opponent on the road and then not require that team to ever reciprocate in return...or if the opponent is willing to reciprocate, then the LSU "home" game actually has to be moved to a neutral site instead of Tiger Stadium.
