If Clemson is top 4 without any top 25 wins why can't Bama be top 4? It is conceivable Alabama is the second best team in the country right now.

Because Bama lost the "win or you're out" game on Saturday, at least that was the narrative until we won. Now it's being rewritten.

Clemson is the defending national champs, and they are undefeated. The last time they played a good team (Bama last year), they won decisively.

Bama is NOT the returning champ, and NOT undefeated. The last two times they played a good team, they lost.

Yes, yes it is. That was the idea in the preseason.

The problem with that is, they won't have anything concrete to back that up. They just lost a home game to LSU, and without a couple of fluke plays (punt return, last minute bomb), that game isn't even close. If LSU was arrogant, they were in scoring territory again at the end of the game, and had enough time to get another.

Amazing to think just how close this game paralleled the Texas game. Hostile road environment against a proud opponent, decisive 1st half where the defense provided the separation, wide open 2nd half where the home team starts rolling, but can't catch up because Burrow and offense never cools off. Both Alabama and Texas make HUGE momentum plays, and it's like Burrow just doesn't even care.
