I wish him the best w/e his decision is. I actually think he'll wind up playing for LSU.

My point was i know he could make money now. And i know that anything could happen as far as him getting hurt. But if he really wants to be here he could be a dual sport player. And if he is as good as he is billed up to be in both sports he can only help not hurt his stock by doing so. But yes i know he could also get injured and get nothing.

would be interesting to know if there is anything in the CBA that requires them to submit an offer or negotiate in good faith.

I havent followed this, so it may have been answered. But why would he not just want to play for LSU baseball and football ala Chad Jones?

because he was already so good in high school that the Dodgers drafted Zach Lee in the first round out of high school.
According to ESPN, as I recall, the family has asked for $6 million and the Dodgers prefer to do $2 million but can go up to $3 million within whatever system they have been using.

Suppose Dodgers go up to $3.2 million bonus?

Does the family say no thanks, we just have to have $6 million?

Chad did not have this option out of high school.

What is sweet about it is, Zach can go pro, take the measly $2 million signing bonus and STILL play QB for LSU if he cant pitch well enough, as long as he is back in school when he is young enough.
D 1 A will let you play football until you are over 25, I believe.
So he could be a bust as a pitcher, take his $2 million and later be an NFL first rounder QB.

How so other than they both have strong arms? Favre is a redneck gunslinger that is 2-3 inches shorter than ZL. From all reports Lee is an accurate, controlled passer.

Hasn't his eligibility clock started since he is in practice? Meaning his 5 to play 4 has begun, right?

that is likely a lot more than he would have gotten signing to play in the minors out of HS. pretty idiotic statement

I don't care when the deadline is, but you should at least have to give them and offer before a certain date.

It is rediculous they haven't even heard from the organization since the draft. It is just totally screwed up the way it holds so many people hostage. The dodgers could call ten minutes before teh 16th and offer him 4 million and he's gone, just that quick.

Where's that leave LSU, baseball and football? It SUCKS!

Tigerwaffe

Great and smart take on it! How can they compete for top notch freeagent talent and not have the money? If Lee is in their plans they will offer him the money he wants it when they are ready. Then it will be up to him to take it or leave it.

I hope he stays because LSU is not at the moment in the running for a top notch QB recruit. If not then we will make do.
