U made a reference how the board would feel if he went out and gave up runs. Paul left a couple pitchers out there too long but it wasn't a pitcher who threw only 60 pitches and gave up 2 hits.

Why does it seem like were the only fans that have to suffer from having coaches that are too willing to stick with faulty game plans?

what if the coaches let cartwright keep chugging along last night after the first three batters?

I mean, statistics say he can give the team more than 0.0 innings

no rational fan would be in favor of keeping cartwright in last night after that atrocious start, just like no rational fan should be in favor of pulling a pitcher that just gave you 6 shut down inning, 2 hit ball with 62 pitches.

I expect the coaches to pull a pitcher like cartwright and leave a pitcher like bouman.

Well no he didn't leave Bouman in too long. Where the hell did I say he did. But I don't think it was a bad decision and I'm certainly capable of realizing that it did not cost us that game.

Leaving in McCune too long? That cost us the game...

I have way more of a problem with Broussard not pitching the 8th and 9th than when Bouman was pulled out.

It cost is big time. Look at what Houston did last night! There coach left that guy in too long but we couldn't hit him. He killed us.

I think it was a combination of pulling bouman and leaving mccune in too long. is that fair?

I just KNEW mccune was getting pulled after loading up the bases... was shocked when they let him stay...

This I agree with. Or at the very least used a combination of Person and Fury to get through the 8th.

I didn't include any stats,

Apologies, P&G86. I was viewing from my phone and lumped you in with the OP. Still completely disagree with your logic of avoiding this dreaded 3rd round through the lineup, but I apologize for pinning the stats on you.

I mean he faced ONE hitter and then they gave him a 7 run lead. If we had a 7 run lead the night before I would be hammering PM for taking Bouman out...is that better?

Meh, I'm just not a believer that pulling Bouman too early in some fans' eyes cost us the game. He could have just as easily gone out there and lost the 1 run lead.

McCune in through the 8th is what gives me the redass.

That was never the problem, it was sending McCune back out for a 2nd inning, letting him load them up and leave him out there

This. Even with the shutout Bouman was getting shelled. No strikeouts and their shots just kept finding our guys. A lot of hard hit outs.

Worked really well for Houston.

Yeah, except their reliever that pitched 6.1 innings had 8 strikeouts and a 7 run lead.

Solid point.

Actually he had them hitting a lot of pop ups which is the name of the game in today's college baseball.

A third factor everybody's overlooking: he had nobody out there behind Broussard warming up when he got in trouble. He made the decision to live or die with Broussard and take his chances the next night.

Wrong. We had a 1-0 lead.

McCune pitched the top of the 7th inning and we scored our 3 tack on runs in the bottom of the 7th inning.

As others said, pulling a guy cruising on 62 pitches and 2 hits better work out, or else it's on you.

You're the coach, you get the credit and the blame. You had two innings to go and a 4 run lead, and now the season's over in humiliating fashion.
