The problem is that lsu appears to be getting ranked worse because of our schedule and expected losses. To me, it should be about how good the team is, regardless of schedule. There are teams ahead of lsu that shouldn't be, but are because they play weak schedules.

Depends how that talent is evaluated. A lot of LSU’s talent is young and unproven.
They might have been highly touted when they arrived on campus, and hopefully most will develop into really good players by the time they leave, but there are a lot of teams on the schedule with more proven talent, and more experienced and balanced than LSU this year.
The Miami and Auburn games are going to be really tough for young team early in the season.
Hopefully the team comes together quickly and improves as the season progresses. The consecutive games of going to Florida, then #3 UGA, #18 Miss St, #1 Alabama is a brutal stretch.

Problem is, Orgeron has a track record of hiring OCs that couldn't run what he wanted in the first place, which is pretty stupid.
