As in Georgia rising to the NCG after only 1 year of their new coach, and also rising to #1 in the recruiting rankings this year. Sadly, we don't have that type of leader at this point, but it's nice to know that if the right one comes along, the tide(see what I did there) can be turned in only one year's time if the right people are put in place.

this is very true. I fear that we win 8-9 games next year and nothing will change

Its amazing what a good QB can do for a team. Smart had a fully loaded team when he came on board. He didn't rebuild anything. What he has done in this class is remarkable.

Hope MB or NL can sling it. I am looking forward to a new multi-year regime at the QB spot.

uga started with a new AD who fired a coach that was mediocre and had an expired shelf life. their new AD has actual testicles. didn't care about firing such a popular person. richt's most important thing in life wasn't football. that's admirable, but not when coaching in the sec.

Things do look more competitive in the SEC these days with Jimbo being added to the pile most recently. Doesn't bode well for us since we got our coach in the nobody-else-wants bargain bin section of the Dollar Store to save money. Instead of saving money, we've spent more on coaches who aren't even coaching any longer, and overall revenues are going to go down as the product on the field goes down. Regardless of what the price tag is for the head coach, if he produces a top 5 or even 10 program at LSU, there will be plenty to pay his salary. Conversely, it doesn't matter how low the salary deal is on a bargain coach, poor performance on the field will still end up causing a shortfall....it's all about winning.

Uhh.. our AD absolutely sucks. He made an easy hire. Nothing ballsy about that. Richt lost to Treon Harris two years in a row. That's what got him fired. You just have to make the right hire, and we were fortunately able to do that with our first option. LSU's big problem was not having multiple options.

Fisher and Herman said no. Oh crap, well let's go with Coach O. That's where other options need to be looked at and a panic hire doesn't need to be made.
