As Rhett Gallego's field goal at the final horn gave UAB a stunning victory over LSU the boos rained down on the new LSU head coach and his staff and players on the night of August 23, 2000. Not many people would have believed that staff had head coaches who would win five future national championships, two other assistants who would be head coaches in the SEC, and another who is likely to join the SEC head coaching fraternity soon.

If all works out LSU may have its third straight national championship winning coach on the sideline next fall. Both LSU and that coaching staff have come a long way from that awful night in Tiger Stadium. They have actually beaten UAB and Miami of Oh-ho-ho-io since then. You never know how things will turn out. Its been a wild 15 years since and who knows what the next 15 have in store.

I'd rather Ron Cooper come back. USCe played good D when he was their DB coach and so did LSU.
