I would not credit 2-loss Les for your '07 National Championship.

I would thank USC, Va Tech, OU, and UGA all for having 2 losses that were "worse than yours", and for the system for pairing you with Ohio State who sucks (I know, we beat them too - it goes both ways)

In any normal year, you would never have sniffed the MNC game. He got lucky. If not for that - he'd be packing his "damn strong" personal belongings and heading to Tennessee-Chattanoga.

this sorta sounds like what he did with the D last year....

Not exactly. He wasn't involved in defensive playcalling. The abortion known as co-defensive coordinators were never in coordination with each other, and the plays were late in getting on the field, causing confusion with the defense. Kinda similar, but the distinction being that Miles was not active in calling the defenses - as far as could be discerned.

End result is both are FUBAR. Chavis hire has improved the D. Head coaches' success is measured by the quality of their staffing hires. We'll see who gets the nod as the new OC.

if you consider the progress from last year.

Care to elaborate on this going into the last game we are one game better this year and the conference is not as good top to bottom this year as was it was last year and we needed a miracle (and questionable play calling by Dan Mullin) to get there. The defense is much improved but the overall product appears to me to be at best slightly better....

I think Les realizes that his offense is the main problem and will find a solid replacement for Gary, and next year we will have a great year and everyone will forget about this mess.

This may well happen, I hope it does, but I don't understand what would make you think things would be significantly different than the last two years. It's certainly not because we are going to be more talented on paper....

And about the NC team who was the OC on that team I forget...? Did GC somehow not have anything to do with that? One thing we know had something to do with it is a 30ish point dog winning b/c we tanked at the end of that season also (near loss to ole miss, home loss to an average Arkansas team).

I think our expectations were too high for this year and because we are a 3 loss team everyone wants to blame the head guy.

It's not the 3 losses that riles people up, it's HOW we accumulated those 3 losses. All were winnable games, and this past loss can be directly blamed on coaching. If we lose this game by 10, it's not nearly the meltdown of these proportions.

Dustin.....are you smokin' crack. We are 7-9 the last two years in the SEC.....AND ARE LUCKY TO BE THERE. WE COULD HAVE LOST MISSISIPPI STATE AND GEORGIA THIS YEAR. Who did we bear? Georgia, Auburn, Miss State, adn Vandy. With the best skill players in the country? Les Miles is the head man, and it stops with him!
