So there is an alternate opinion on whether the SEC tournament is the pinnacle of the season.

Yea, except for the fact that no one has that opinion...

Yes. Skip didn't want his team burning too much emotion right before the regionals. Skip felt his 89 and 90 teams (epic regionals) were emotionally spent by the time they reached Omaha. So he made sure that the SEC tournament was only a tuneup. South Carolina blows on the SEC Toruny, how has that affected their end result?

I used to flog the dolphin before any big date. Always worked well for me. You don't want to go out there with a loaded gun...people get hurt that way

So going through a SEC tournament with a first day bye, playing two or three days of double elimination games followed by two days of single elimination games in the strongest college baseball conference isn't emotional or draining?

It's the dog pile when they win it all and move from being a regional host bubble team to a top 8 national seed over those five days that saps their strength?

Okay, I think I understand now. Thanks.

So,again, why did he pull the starters in the 8th of the Kentucky game in '96 for more rest prior to the turnaround game vs Alabama? Sounds like he wanted that one pretty bad.

His only tourney win in the current format was in 2000 and it didn't hurt the team in the NCAAs.

Some former players swear that Skip made moves to purposely lose games in that tournament.

So besides not dog piling you're now promoting the idea that Mainieri should not try to win the SEC tournament? After all, that's what you claim Skip did and Skip was always right.

He's pulling starters to rest them. That proves the point that he didn't want them worn out. In 1997, LSU faced Bama in the winners bracket final. The talk was that game was important so you only had one more game after. Lose, and you play an extra game. LSU won that game, and coasted in the final game loss to Bama. Bama started that same pitcher against LSU in Omaha, and we scored 6 in the first inning.

I see. So next year we should try to go 0-2.

And,by the way,any former player who is running around saying Skip tried to lose games is a jackass.

You're calling some LSU baseball hall of famers "jack arse".

Yes,if they are going around saying their former coach tried to lose games on purpose, then yes, they are jackasses.

Are the future LSU hall of famers on this team jackasses for dogpiling? Or is the current hall of fame coach a jackass for condoning it?

So you'll just talk out of your own arse than listen to what people who have been there have said.

Different times Russian. We needed to win the SEC Tournament to get this Top 8 Seed, we all know that. Back in the 90's, it was different.

As far as dog pilling goes, I know kids get excited and all, but I worry about injury. The Mestepey injury is the best example.
