While this was in no way the worst transgression that POS did, it was just another frick up. What he did to the Lacrosse team was WAY worse. He should have been professionally and financially ruined, yet here he is.

story about how the buffoon came to be the current LSU head football coach.

There was some personal connection. Basically the good old boy network. Don't remember exactly, but Alleva was college roommates with one of the main search members or some such.
So the search committee decides the interview will be public and broadcast live. Which meant no competent sitting AD in the country would interview. 2 people interviewed total, alleva was 1.
He never should have worked as an AD again. Our state is idiot.

This is a good question.
If the Advocate was a real newspaper, it would do a story on LSU's history of athletic directors and list some of the highs and lows.
Joe Dean, for example, was AD for 13 years and had the distinction of hiring Mike Archer, Curley Hallman and Gerry DiNardo before hitting the lottery in late 1999 and hiring Nick Saban.
Skip hired Les Miles.
Alleva hired Orgeron, as well as basketball coaches Trent Johnson, Johnny Jones and Will Wade.
Bob Brodhead hired Bill Arnsparger, Skip Bertman and Sue Gunter, but his time at LSU ended in "crazy days" headlines.
Jim Corbett (1955-67) is historically considered LSU's greatest ever AD, but it's a toss-up as to who is No. 2.
Certainly it isn't Alleva.

Nope.
The Advocate lead the charge to have all candidates made public. THAT shrunk the applicant pool to what it was. O’Keefe could have had some great choices for consideration if those interested knew that discussions would be private.

He erred on the SJW side of the Duke Lacrosse scandal. Therefore, from a liberal perspective, he was the opposite of toxic.
It's hard to wrap your head around how they think, but it was all part of the process of completely taking over the institution with leftists in charge.
