Just asking, but how would Auburn arrange to have a ref team in place that was favorable to them on any particular weekend?
Its not so much that, but that the refs hate LSU.

That was a joke, that now has been assumed as fact on the rant.

The replay official overturned the interference and gave the ball back to Auburn. It was later discovered that the replay official was not only an Auburn alumnus, but was also a big booster to the program.
Good god. It was a joke to make a point.

No I dont think they cheat - I just think the SEC refs are that bad. I watch a lot of football and the SEC refs are amoung the worst.

yes they cheat!! bunch a bama queers!!
Posted on 9/17/08 at 9:18 am to Achee
Are you kidding? Just replay a tape of the game 2 years ago.
Posted on 9/17/08 at 9:21 am to LSUTANGERINE
Of course they don't cheat; they just have a hard time recognizing chop-blocks that obscure their view of the field.
It’s just a big coincidence that Auburn and Bama are the least penalized teams in the SEC—year after year after year.

SEC rules prohibit an official calling a game involving his alma mater.

Doesn't say they can't be in the reply booth.
SEC refs as a whole are aweful...

Kind of like the refs at Auburn- alums, boosters, and generally local yocals.

where in the article does it say that? all it says is that "the SEC office will appoint the official".

My bad, I was responding to someone who claimed Auburn hired the replay official. The closest "fact" I can find is an article on SEC basketball, about a 1/3 of the way down. I am friends with a football official and that's how I know that they do not let alum's do their schools games. I can't find anything on the net with the rules for SEC officials.

Top 10 Worst Calls in College Football
LSU vs. Auburn – September 16, 2006 is ranked #2
LINK
The SEC home office still refuses to admit the interference call was wrong. They are totally bias towards the Bama schools.

For proof, you throw out a blog written by an "LSU Alumnus (1997) and LSU Football season ticket holder..." You've got to be kidding me.
Well, if Auburn can have one of its boosters serving as an official in the game, we can certainly have one of our fans writing about it.

There is no doubt about it. If it were mere incompetence, the horrible calls would tend to even out in favor of each team. When there are consistently terrible calls, and ALL of them go in favor of the same team every time, then they are cheating. The odds against refs just randomly making that many mistakes that egregious all in favor of the same team are simply astronomical. You'd have a better chance of winning a million dollar plus lottery jackpot than having that happen unintentionally.

I will be glad when this game is over and we can stop re-hashing 2006.
But there are a number of curiousities regarding LSU's last two visits to Auburn.
1) In 2004, the rule that allowed Auburn to re-kick an extra point was only active for that year. Moreover, this is the only time that I ever saw that rule actually called. Ever.
2) In 2006, I have never before or since in my lifetime of watching football seen a pass interference call waved off because the ball was tipped downfield. Ever. In fact, earlier in the same game, the same type of play was called in the opposite manor. LSU is called for interference despite an "upfield" interception.
Sheesh. Let's just beat them for once. Then we can all move on.

I'm still amazed how no offense was called for Holding Dorsey last year.. The few calls that were made were in games that had long been decided.
Posted on 9/17/08 at 9:57 am to raparoot
The number and types of calls and no-calls made against LSU vs Auburn is just bizarre and I can understand why people would think something isn't right behind the scenes in Auburn, Alabama.

Well, that was every week. NO opposing offensive lineman was assessed a holding penalty until our NINTH game of the season last year. Eight different teams facing our defensive front, and not one lineman ever held anybody?
