UT sucked this year in every way but DEFENSE. they had no offense but were still top ten nationally in DEFENSE. that is big time.

Do we want Orgeron?

Never been a DC at a big time program nor an NFL team.

What kind of defense would he run? Aggressive? Blitzing? Zone or Man? Nobody knows. He's never run his own defense before.

Rumor is Chavis is coming to LSU...was supposedly said by Jim Donnan on his local radio show in Atl (680 The Fan).

Chavis:

would be a dramatic improvement

has seen just about everything an offense can throw at a defense

wouldnt be forced to make pieces fit his scheme like he did with Tenn's up and down national recruiting efforts

would have a nice calming effect on the current players and the incoming recruits

knows the SEC inside and out and is a proven winner

is obviously loyal, is looking for a place to land and is not driven to be a HC anymore

what's not to like about the guy?

Do his players know where to line up? Or are they looking at the sidelines with the hands up in the air 1 second prior to snap.

Ours under the current DCs have no idea WTF is going on.

I know scheme is important, who really knows if the Mallory Peveto scheme will or will not work, I am pretty sure the players still have no idea what it is.

#6 in scoring defense this year. If we had that, we would be a lot better.

they have to recruit nationally at UT and their recruiting has gone in the toilet over the last three years.

why the hell are people acting like UT has an intimidating D? its safe, boring, predictable. on top of that he doesn't recruit. hes long in the tooth and dull. it would doom us to mediocrity. we'd beat the big time teams every few years, if they had an off game, but not much more than that. we'd be UGA. no thanks.

id prefer Chizik if he got let go from Iowa State or Ken Norton. these are the only hires that would make me optimistic at all.

Ken Norton

that would be quite a reach for a national program.

Not saying it wouldnt work, but what would he even run?

It wouldn't matter. The defense would go out there and get stops, or they would have to answer to Ken Norton. Norton's dad was a Marine and broke Ali's jaw. That's a tough family.

Some people think they should have kept Fulmer and let him hire a new OC because they said the problem with UT this year was on offense and not defense.
