Mark Laird could play both.
Tony Upchurch if he wanted could also play basketball.

I know RR wanted to run track. Not sure if he still is going to. Brazil will. Kavarha Holmes is on the track team. So is Raymond.
Ronald Martin played on the basketball team his freshman year but is not just focusing on football. Freak athlete. Might be our best athlete on the team.
We wanted Laird to walk onto the football team as a WR/DB, but he decided to just stick with baseball. Hes gonna be a stud next season and was our best player in Omaha, by far. Next Mikie Mahtook?? I think so.

Laird would have to add 30 lbs to play football. He wouldn't break the top 8 depth chart either.

I never said he would be a stud out there. But Les and co wanted him to walk on. Of course he would have to add weight. But they saw something that made them want him to play. Legit 4.4 speed maybe... And could play WR or safety. If he was to focus on football, adding weight wouldnt be a problem.

Jared Foster and Mark Laird had prefered walk on spots on the football team. QB and Safety, respectfully. Foster played for a year before going full time with baseball, laird (a year younger) passed up on football and just played baseball last year
Like said earlier, terrance magee was a stud on the diamond, mlb prospect at one time. but hasnt played at lsu

Was there ever any talk of Mark Laird playing football? I think he was an all-state WR. i know it was a small school but he has speed, hands and height.
Yes. I think he a got a preferred walk on offer.

I think you have him mixed up with Stevenson. He was a standout WR at STM. Caught the winning TD in a big Playoff win over St. Aug his Junior year. STUD WR!!!
