Difference b/w "priority points" and "philanthropic points"?

Decided to look at my account on TAF and noticed for the first time that there are two "areas" of points; one being "priority points" and the other being "philanthropic points". There's also a ranking associated with each.
Why the difference? Do they count for different things?
Are tickets based only on priority points?
Do I get into heaven or a lesser circle of hell before other TAF members with a lower philanthropic point total (I need to get on this)?
