I would absolutely disagree with this. At the time he was recruited, JJ was a raw athlete who could be brought along slowly because we had a starter in RP, and a promising backup in Lee. When we got Lee, it was seen as a coup because we already had Flynn with one year and RP with 3 remaining in front of him.

The staff had a justifiable line of succession set up. JJ was borderline 4-star prospect after his senior year playoff performance and Lee was a solid 4 star prospect, so it's not like we were totally reaching on these guys. Unfortunately, RP threw all that in the garbage when he got the boot.

As for the future, Shepard and Garrett look like pretty nice pickups last year. That happened in spite of a young JJ looking like he would own the position for a few seasons after the Peach Bowl. You might question the development, but I wouldn't question the actual recruiting. Not at all.

Dude the one that absolutely kills me is the play where JJ rolled out of the endzone and threw to Lafell for about a 7 yard gain or so. Randle didn't have a defender withing 20 yards of him at least. Would have been about a 96-97 yard TD grab easily.

Granted the quarterback play hasn't been stellar. The Oline is not strong enough grind teams down like Alabama does by the second half.

Yes, I saw men open on a couple of the sacks against Fla. JJ has got to start to recognize the open areas of the field and anticipate when receivers are going to be there in advance -instead of waiting to watch them run into the open.
