I would love to believe a), but it's tough. I thought we were clearly the stronger team, the longer the game wore on. If anything, it was close because of OUR self-inflicted mistakes - not accounting for TR out of the backfield, ball security in the passing game and a missed chance for 7. Ya'll were forced to attempt long field goals and tactically, relying on your defense you were able to try long FGs instead of punt.
You're not one of the people saying it, but the vast majority of Bama fans, and a good plurality of the sports media all make the case "the better team lost". The evidence isn't there, except for people with an agenda. They would have that agenda even if LSU won by 18 points.

Yeah, this is pretty much my point also. It's like no one dropped off the script to CLM saying "Dude, you are not supposed to stop the Alabama dynasty". It's like Bama is the only team from the SEC that the media approves of. JMO, anyway.
he was absolutely correct about his second point, though. Alabama is not in the discussion if Oregon hadn't dropped another one and OK State would have won.

Yeah, I should have given him props about his b). That is where part of the Gumps' valid points come from - other teams losing is not Alabama's fault. My counter to all of that is - in 2007 - we played back "in" by getting into the SEC-CG and winning that game. I would never had advocated (I do not now, nor will I ever advocate this) an LSU team getting into the big game without winning the SEC-W.
I will not be comfortable going to the game if we lose to UGA in the SEC-W. I don't know if I advocate that, either. But, rules say #1 plays #2...

Forget about the kicking game.. we are better in that phase which makes us 33% better than Bama. Gumps should be concerned how Bama was giving up in OT and LSU looked vastly better in all 3 phases. OT was not even close. That should be what Bama is concerned about.

No doubt our ST have struggled - all year. Can't kickoff for shite, kickoff coverage has given up too many big plays, etc. And no, we have more returners. All I can hope for is that 40-something days is enough time to fix some of it.....
