Actually it wouldn't be.
Yes... it would. How is comparing where Lee is today to where JJ was last year at this time giving us an accurate assessment of where Lee is compared to JJ today? The much more accurate comparison would be to compare the two using the most recent samples.

Doc used to be JJ's biggest cheerleader.
Congrats, that's only the 45th time you've said that in this thread.
We know, Roger.

question....why did you refer to the LSU football program as "the fighting kiges"?
Are you not an LSU fan?

Ignore it if you have heard it so you don't come off so petty...

your understanding of sampling methodology for statistical comparison is non-existent.

No it wouldn't. That's why business compare Q1 with Q1 and NOT Q1 with Q3 when analyzing trends from different years.
Those are two things that aren't even remotely comparable.

Wtf?
I just commented some ethnic groups might take exception to statement.
I'm done with this thread now that it's turned racist.
I think we could all practice a little tolerance on Rant.
Players are all one creed, LSU Fighting Tigers.

We are comparing Lee to JJ today. A business compares itself in that fashion. If they were comparing to separate companies, would they use last year from one and this year for another? Or would they use the two most recent samples?

really?
So a football team and the end of a season is more similar to a football team at the beginning of the season.
Than two beginnings of the season from sequential years?
Really wanna make that argument?

Are you being deliberately obtuse? It seems so
You can't speed up time.
You have to compare the same time period because experience and reps play a huge part for a qb.
How do you not understand this?
It's been discussed 1000 times.
JJ got better throughout the season. It would be assumed that lee would get better too right?

Why the hell did a thread with this title get to 20 pages?

Who's racist? Who even posted something racist?

Explain it to me then. If I am ignorant, I would want to be enlightened.

Aren't remotely comparable in the slightest.
These are two entirely different teams playing entirely different schedules with different coaches.
It's stupid and doesn't say anything.

they would still compare stats from the same quarter.
in fact, even moreso, because comparing different sectors of time allows for another variable and error structure that cannot be accounted for.

No...compare a QB with a week to prepare as the starter to a QB who had a whole season to improve. Dude. C'mon!

This is the point a few are trying to make. If we don't have enough of JJ now, wouldn't the more accurate portrayal of him be the most recent?

Thats exactly what you imply when you say comparison of the end of 2010 against the beginning of 2011 is most fair.

then no comparison can be made, ever.
