I love any award that any tiger wins that can reflect positively on the program and highlight the tigers. Did I miss some part of this season where Eric Reid did something that was in any way an All American performance?

Career achievement type deal. Honestly it would've been kind of shitty if he didnt get some sort of all american honors.

He still had a pretty good year, just not as good as last year which wouldve been hard to beat that.

no, you didn't. his play this season was spotty at best and sometimes worse. considering the personel we lost from last season, anyone who didn't see this coming....wasn't looking. we need a solid, focused effort from the dbacks on nyeve cause I doubt seriously that clemson will be able to run on us. JMO.

According to Masconna, statistically this was his best year. But i will agree he did get burnt by taking some bad angles several times

Better stats in a season where he doesn't have 2 all americans in the secondary with him = All American

Reid was asked to line up against WR's more often because of the lack of depth at CB. That is asking a lot for a guy who is that big(6'2" 215)not named Patrick Peterson. When he makes mistakes, it is more apparent without guys like Brandon Taylor and Tyrann Mathieu to clean up. I cannot think of any safeties who are more talented than Reid right now.

You probably did, but don't feel too bad abut it. Considering your drunken state during the LSU games and compounded by your complete ignorance of anything athletic, it was a natural thing.
You will get better.
But please continue to give us your impressive rating of LSU football players from a clueless point of view.

You didn't miss anything, but these teams are national awards voted on by national voters. While we as LSU fans seemingly know everything about the performance of each player on our favorite team, the national guys aren't as "in tune" with LSU. They can't be. It's impossible to watch every player, every minute of every game. That said, usually you see guys who were thought of very highly in the preseason get the nod for the post-season All American team simply because the national writers don't really know who else to put on the team. They simply just default to early projections. This is especially true for non-glamour positions.

Reid didn't have a great year, and I think everyone would agree with that. But there probably wasn't any FS who had an overwhelmingly great season, so the national guys just defaulted to Reid. He's not the first player to have just an "ok" season and be named to the All American team, and he won't be the last. Still takes nothing away from the accomplishment.

It's not personal. I just get a tad tired of a bunch of internet experts finding ways to bash players so so they can feel good about themselves.

Give it up your not going to win. Reid did not have a good year. Stats dont lie but you will be unqualified person to judge no matter what you say...

Do you think he was put out of position covering up some mistakes by the younger players??? It's not as always as obvious as to what you see on TV...

It's not bashing. We love to complain when these things happen to other schools. "So and so player at Alabama only made All-American because of past success or because they went to Alabama." Reid is a great representative of LSU, but shouldn't be an All-American.

People need to realize that these Reid threads aren't bringing him back. He's leaving.

And to the people saying one more year can do him a lot of good, just stop. Let it go.

Who deserves All-American at safety then? I think Reid and Rambo are the best safeties in CFB right now.

Edit: Rambo was suspended for a good part of the season so my choices are Phillip Thomas and Eric Reid.
