No x is the reciever opposite the tight end or split end
Y is the tight end
Z is the flanker of the tight end who's off the ball

Your right.. in my years in football the slot typically didnt have a label. When I ran the west coast offense, we labeled our slot the 3 position...thats the terminology x,y,z,3 in most cases.

That link (page 5, here it is again LINK) says that Crowton will be in the press box with Gonzales on the sideline, I thought somebody started a thread a while back saying Gonzales would be in the press box and Crowton on the sideline. Anybody got any info on that?
