Wait, so OU doesn't deserve credit for winning the NC in 2000, because FSU didn't belong. You think OU didn't belong in 2003...so I guess LSU doesn't deserve credit for their NC?

OU deserved to play for a NC every year they went. Their schedule was objectively tougher than all the other teams with similar records

You really think OU deserved a shot in 2003 over USC after the Big12CG? Especially considering the fact that USC was #1? Sure, USC doesn't play a championship game, but does anyone think that they would have lost a game by 28 points? Probably not considering they haven't lost by more than a TD since like 2001.

I understand this, However on the BIG stage when it counts most they choke. and NONE of the top three LOST to a Boise, or West Virgina in a bowl when they were favored by more than 10!!

\Give me a break, they play in the Big Twelve, they lost in their conference championship game the year they played LSU , and got completely embarassed by USC . Oklahoma is extremely over rated, aka Ohio State.

They can't countinue losing to VERY lesser talented teams within the Pac-10 on a yearly basis. They are NOT #1!!!

PJ, we barely eeked by Oregon State and Arizona State this decade. And neither of them won the Pac 10 that year. This notion that the Pac 10 is some weak-arse conference is absurd.

======================================

USC is easily #1 by this sort of measure. Easily.

(I like NC's more than some retard's list, however)

yeah, I do. They played a much tougher schedule than LSU and especially USC. The fact that the subjective polls had OU #3 and all the objective measures brought them up to a clear #1 is an indication of that. You can't punish OU for losing their game in the CG, when USC didn't even play in one.

Sure you can. If you can punish USC for playing in the Pac-10 (something they can't control), you can punish OU for playing a conference championship game (something they can't control).

This is a terrible argument for several reasons.

1) USC didn't have to lose with their easier schedule. That's fine, they couldn't control playing in a down-conference that year. So win all your games and it isn't an issue.

2) Hell, OU was punished. They fell in the polls behind all the other 1-loss teams. But their schedule was so damn tough that still finished FIRST in the BCS...by MILE. OU had a better record than USC and did it by playing tougher teams and had a larger Margin of Victory. Period.

This is one reason they lost in the Big-12 title game. They seemed to already know they were going to be in the BCSGC already and it showed.

Yeah, and that was part of the problem. Everyone wants to negate OU for a rule that didn't exist. I really believe that had OU known that they needed to win that game, it would have been a different story.

but USC lost a Pac 10 game in '03. That argument would hold more water if they went undefeated. If your judging the entire body of work, it shouldn't matter what week the loss came in. And there's the theory that OU was so far ahead in all the polls and computers, that they knew the Big 12 Championship didn't really matter. I'm not saying I subscribe to that, but it's out there. I wouldn't have had a problem with USC playing LSU that year, but to assert that OU had no business being there is absurd. And kinda fricking stupid.

Since I don't really know who the frick you are, I'll refrain commenting on your previous post directed at me. However, are you seriously fricking saying that it's better to win the Peach Bowl than to lose a BCS bowl game? Seriously? You are seriously saying that?

By the way, LSU did not blow OU out of the Superdome in '03. That was a very close game that might have gone a different way if LSU was not basically playing at home.
