quote:You saying he is the centerpiece and me saying he's not would be an argument. My point being more on the "descriptive" side where I'm saying I don't believe he changes this team's approach and you, seemingly, being more on the "literal" side where you're saying it's simply because he bats 3rd.
You denying its veracity doesn't create an argument
quote:What's rhetorical?
It just means you're trying to play rhetorical games that don't connect with reality.

According to his grandmother, he had minor surgery and he will be able to play in two weeks.

Well Ell, it was a real risk playing Deichmann today. As always, you were right. Sarcasm

As of Monday, it still seemed a risk. After hearing the reports Wednesday, I was happy to hear he was doing very well and would likely play. Happy to be wrong there. And me being wrong seems to bring you joy. Glad to supply that as well. Although I might suggest you find more worthwhile matters to make you happy rather than internet strangers' opinions.

Have plenty hobbies and interest to keep me happy....but I do get an ounce of joy seeing you flub one. I also love how Adam puts alot of work into his player evals and every year like clockwork you have to shite on a few. There is a reason you not liked on this board...as I have said before, if you brought substance without the know it all bullshite, you would be possibly one of the best baseball posters here. You just cannot help yourself though....we used to it...hence your downvotes.

Preach on preacher man. You are spot on.

quote:I've always said I appreciate the work he puts into it. And I mess with Adam more so than his evals. He knows what it is and has just as much fun with it as I do. I don't mind disagreeing with a few of his conclusions or his method in general, and he doesn't mind either. He's a big boy. And can defend himself.

And as for my pompousness/assholeness/attitude, I don't hide from that. I don't give a shite what people think of me or my downvotes. I'd have stopped long ago if any of that mattered. That being said, I'm trying to be less aggressive. That's not what this thread was for sure. It's odd that you're melting over it considering my only point is that if he's hurt at all, I see no need to risk it. And obviously that wasn't the case and, again, that makes me happy.
It wasn't this thread, but Russian had an update in a different one. I believe it was Wednesday, and the prognoses was great and you could hardly tell he was hit. That's when I walked back on my opinion to rest him. It's not like I'm only just saying this because he hit well this weekend.

Pretty good weekend from Mr. "not the centerpiece." Can't believe they didn't needlessly rest him.

We have 4 other players with a 1.400 OPS or better. I think that makes my point better than yours.
I never said he wasn't one of our best hitters.

Should have rested them all. Didn't need them this weekend. What if they got injured?
Posted on 2/19/17 at 6:09 pm to ell_13
It affects the entire team if they got in a collision on the base paths!
Posted on 2/19/17 at 6:09 pm to ell_13
This bump scared the shite out of me.
Posted on 2/19/17 at 6:13 pm to therick711
PM has said if there was any extra risk, he wouldn't have played. Doctors assured him there wasn't. End of story. Which was Wednesday. There are plenty of "gotcha" moments where I have to eat crow. And there will be more. This one seems odd to me.

So Mainieri said what I told you. There's a shock.
Posted on 2/19/17 at 6:30 pm to therick711
If you had told me there'd be no extra risk, I probably would have laughed at that notion and looked even worse today.
