but Jacoby Stevens ain't walking through the door.

Thank God he isnt. Last year his lack of lateral movement was exposed in the run game and he was targeted continually when he dropped into coverage.

Hopefully Sage Ryan will turn into a Grant Delpit but we have enough Jacoby Stevens type safeties getting abused already!

Those two LBs typically only have a couple of responsibilities

This is just completely false. Vs modern offenses, these 2 players have more responsibility than ever in a 4-2-5. They have to watch the run lanes, watch mobile QBs, blitz at times and cover half to all of the middle (depending on the blitz package), where you have a lot of RB and TE routes and some short slot routes. It’s a very difficult assignment.

One of the 2 MLBs is also typically responsible for setting the alignment of the front 7.

I don't remember seeing us in a true 4-3 alignment. Seems like we were in a 4-2-5 most of the night.

Please stop.

IMO this is a terrible defensive scheme that leaves just 2 linebackers covering the whole field. It especially exposes weak linebackers that don't have the instinct or strength to go after the ball.

Please stop.

the 2-5 isn't the problem. the 4 is.

you can't have 4 fatasses on the field against a chip kelley offense. those days are over and O can't figure that out.

Well, what game were you watching. Really LSU only has two DL in there, those other two are basically LB size on Alabama.

Two, Chip Kelley won by playing Les ball.

You didn't see all the stupid Oregon stuff, it was old LSU ball.

LSU plays light on the edges i.e. BJ, Anthony, and Gaye. But the biggest problem are the LB/Ss that don't fill gaps, don't cover TE/RBs in pattern, and are absolutely not even in the picture of where the ball is.

Not sure what game you were watching but it could have been Les Miles coaching for UCLA... run, run, and than pass to the slow arse TE.

Mike fricking Jones. But because Ed is cuck, he didn’t let the kid step on the field.

This was the biggest surprise to me but I was obviously just hoping we were going to be better. Is Ryan that bad he can't beat out those guys and Harris....that's really weak
This tells me how little you actually pay attention. Sage is hurt, O mentioned it last week in a presser and it's been discussed on this board a number of times including pointing it out to people who haver made stupid statements like this.

Ona secondary note, remember DJ Welter? How bad was that guy Beckwith if he couldn't beat out Welter? Or maybe sometimes the coaches make really bad calls regarding certain players.
