Those two words should never be used in the same sentence when making any reference to the LSU defense this year!!!

The fact that Lincoln Riley made that decision does not mean he made the right decision. It could just as easily be framed as a reactionary move under pressure from boosters that might hurt his team more than it helps (compared to waiting until December) in the long run.

You might be right, nobody truly knows how things will play out after the season.

But....

We HAVE seen - time and time again - what waiting too long to make a change does for us. I'd rather we try something different for a change and get a jump on the process - assuming that we're actually going to make that move anyway.

Like I said - I doubt our defense could play any worse under an iterim for the remainder of the season, and for once I'd like us to be ahead of the curve with recruits instead of having to play catch-up after the season (and after ESD has already passed).

I could be wrong, too, but I'm all for making the jump now.

in addition to that, and I don't know USC's situation, but we are already short a DL coach using an analyst....and we have another position or 2 where we are completely worried about their coaching. so firing house now, we lose our DC, our LB coach, who the hell is going to run this D? spare me the 'it can't get worse'....he will likely be let go at season's end when all the dust settles.

The secondary has progressed a little but the dline has not. And the linebacker situation isn't much better due to him playing a veteran transfer over a more talented kid.
