It honestly looked like most of the players and coaches were out of their element in Seattle.

There was quite a contrast between what we saw from Sarkisian and Holt as opposed to Miles and Chavis. That said, I still like our guys, and have confidence that they will get it together.

Guy's I went to Lsu & have been a tiger fan all my life. I know it is only 1 game but the def. look just like last yr. I am afraid we are in for a very long season.

Which may mean it's not all coaching, it's a lack of talented players. The dline gets no push and the DBs can't cover anyone. Peterson is the only stud on that side of the ball.

just a comment:

if we had the D from last year, i believe we would have LOST the game instead of WON the game...

I'm not sold on any of the coaching staff
---------------------------

HELLO!!!! I've been excited, waiting for Crowton to get his groove on, but except for the exceptional talent all over the offense, LSU wouldn't be squat.
Well maybe as good as the dumbfkkk O-line coach.--what a joke this guy is.

I think you need to go study your history on Chavis...I guess you forgot how bad the d looked when Pelini first took over then they came around, give the guy time...

Agree. Hoping he will rethink the 3rd down zone set....

Isn't that the very thing that hurt us last year?

Remember the 1st 2 games of 05 after Katrina. The defense looked bad but ended up coming around. Last night was tough situation. 2000 miles and a time zone away is not easy. Not to mention with a new coach you do not have any actual game footage of him in action to go off of. Anyone that had watched Locker play before he was injured knew that this kid had some ability. All in all, a win is a win!!

Totally agree!!! New coach and when was the last time LSU faced Steve Sarkisian as a coach?? I think last night was a great win and I feel that we will vastly improve with a couple of games under our belt!! Washington looked very good last night!!

What game were you watching?

Just on the D-line, I saw Alem, Alexander, Woods, Nevis, Agayahere (sp?), Downs, and a couple of guys whose numbers I didn't recognize substituting throughout the game. Also, Hawkins came in for Eugene in the 2nd, and I know Taylor and Hatcher switched out at one safety spot. As for LBs, I'm pretty sure only Riley, Cutrera and Sheppard saw PT.

Yes, the defense looked terrible for the most part, but the second half it looked a lot better than the first half.

Remember ASU in '05 (as at least one other poster has pointed out already). Half this board was ready to run Bo Pelini out of town, and then came the debacle v. Tennessee the following week. Things turned out alright, and I am confident with a couple of cupcakes coming up that we'll be fine before UGA.

One thing that does concern me, and we'd better get it figured out is the 3rd down thing. LSU was awful in 3rd down defense last night.
