The one who broke his leg preseason?

Is he expected back? Is he any good?

Let's just role with the freshmen DBs. They honestly look solid. It's been run defense lately that's the problem. Tovaino especially looks like he has a bright future.

Nah, because if he turns out great they’ll still claim him as theirs.

Just asking.
Besides, I thought the plan was for Toviano to be a safety after redshirting this year.

He’s only playing CB out of absolute necessity

The defense needs a lot of help this off-season. Hopefully the bowl prep will continue the development of the freshman but I am doubting houses ability to do that.

Next season. He can’t leave without graduating or sitting a year, so he’s likely here next season.

He was good enough to start some games at Ohio St as a true freshman.

Alexander was starting to show some improvement when he got hurt. Toviano has looked very good considering. Stamps has been better the last two games. Hold onto Bates in recruiting and get Alexander and Johnson healthy and bring in a better staff to develop and scheme them. The cupboard isn’t completely bare.

Our DBs have done better since the beginning of the season. We have played some efficient qbs and they have been average.

Our run D has been BRUTAL.

Defense still needs at least 1 or 2 of everything. Still looks like a complete rebuild, although I admit I liked the fight in the defense down the stretch against Florida. They are still not a good defense. I'm not sure they're even average.

Brian Kelly and whoever is in charge of recruiting for the defense need to be turning over every rock, looking under every tree, stopping to check every pile of leaves to see if there is a better option than what we have until the defense is a legit, top tier SEC defense.

That will take years, IMHO, at least 2, but probably 3 or 4. I'm not saying there aren't some young players who might develop into starters contributors on good defenses (in 2024 and 2025, particularly), but complacency ("just role with the freshman DBs) is how we got here.

This is the worst defense in LSU history and one of the very worst in the nation right now.

With incoming players and the roster likely returning including Johnson, the DBs should not be a huge problem next year.

I worry a lot more about the D-Line
