Ah Tulane...the one bastion of higher education in Louisiana, holding up a crumbling castle of LSU inadequacy.

Does anyone here actually know how to spell "gorilla" instead of referring to a warfare tactic. F*cking illiterates.

First of all, I'm sure this is an alter, but whatever I'm gonna respond anyway.
I'm glad that whatever "bastion of higher education" you attend has a great spelling program, but perhaps it could use some improvement on some other areas of language, such as puns for instance. Since you obviously haven't gotten to that class yet, here is the wikipedia definition of a pun:
quote:
A pun, or paronomasia, is a form of word play that deliberately exploits ambiguity between similar-sounding words for humorous or rhetorical effect
You see, while I understand my pun was a bit of a stretch, it was meant as a word play on our former moniker of GORILLA BALL, when LSU was known for exceptional power hitting, by contrasting this team, whose strength IMO lies in our pitching staff. Hence, GUERRILLA BALL, playing off of the fact that in "guerrilla" warfare, the element of surprise and ambush is a typical strategy, making it hard to actually see and open fire on those firing upon you.
Therefore, since our pitchers are very good, and it is hard for opposing batters to see and hit our pitchers' pitches, it is similar to a soldier not being able to find and attack the enemy that is attacking him before it is too late.
As I said, its a bit of a stretch, but not too farfetched IMO to actually be a somewhat clever play on words, or pun.

Thus endeth the lesson.
