Sorry SFP, but I gotta agree with everyone else on here. Byrd dropped maybe all of three passes last year and was overthrown by RP twice in the Tulane game. Besides that he caught everything. I love Bowe, but he had aligator arms until his Sr season and still dropped a dozen or so balls.

BTW, Byrd runs a great go route, a very good slant and a decent circle route I'm sure he does well on his curls and outs as well, but why would you want your deep threat running short routes?

Bowe's SR season > Byrd's JR season

We'll see if Byrd's SR is better than Bowe's SR season.

Lafell is only a Junior

but this is his 4th year

by bowe's 4th year, he was one of the best WRs in CFB and was drafted highly in a big year for WRs in the draft

Lafell redshirted & has only played in 2006 & 2007.

I think Byrd is much faster than Dwayne Bowe and will run more deep threat routs than Bowe.

I go with SFP on this. Everything except the Bowe v. Clayton. Bowe v. Byrd is not even close.

Bowe is bigger. Bowe runs better routes. Bowe blocks downfield better. Byrd is faster and the hands are about even.

He will go higher than Bowe in the draft.

Not saying this is impossible but highly unlikely.

I think they are all great and will all do great things. They all three have things that they did or do better than the others (in college). However byrd is only in his sixth year of football. He is still learning route running and ways to get open. When he tones those things he will still have his raw talent and speed which can't be taught. He can do so many things that NFL scouts will love. He hasnt even started returning kicks yet at LSU like he did in JUCO, and was very good at doing.

With all that said.. GEAUX TIGERS (former and current)

I agree with everything you said. I love Byrd, I just sometimes feel the need to come to Lafell's defense because I think a few mid-season drops have really blinded a lot of people as to how good he can be(and is).

I don't see any WR being labeled "the #1 guy" but you gotta think Byrd is closest thing we got. Lafell is a damn good WR, but lets be honest here Byrd has the speed, the size, and the hands. Hes a very complete WR and for some reason everybody thinks he can only run fly routes.

It'll depend on the QB's. They have to get him the ball.

they are all different recievers. Byrd is a fast reciever who makes big plays(hint hint, the Auburn and Alabama games). Lafell is a decent sized reciever who makes great catches(hint hint, the championship and VT game). Tolliver is going to be good. He has great height, great speed, and great hands. He's just a little young and inexperienced.

Didn't Lafell have more catches and yards than Byrd last year?

no doubt

Lafell has better size

and the hands.

I bet their drop totals would be pretty similar.

I haven't watched last year's games in a while, so I won't comment on that, but I can definitely say that Byrd did not get the consistent separation last year that Lafell did.

Remember, Bowe had a vision problem--fixed with surgery in the off season before his senior year--once done, Katy bar the door.

Yes but didn't BYRD lead the team with receiving touchdowns? yes
