Crowton's playcalling has been very good this year.

We only had 3 penalties vs Vandy. Poor excuse for Crowton. And most of the passes were dropped because JJ was off tonight with his accuracy. If your QB is off, and the running game is good, then stop throwing it. See 2009 La Tech game

I just meant the timing, within the drive, that the penalties are occurring, i.e. 3rd down. I'm pretty sure LSU didnt throw very much so I dont know what your last point is. LSU ran the sh!t out of the ball tonight.

Except for the fact that it doesn't get us anything more than 2 yards 70% of the time. Read option doesn't allow a RB to have any momentum when he gets the ball, which is what a power back like Ridley/Blue need.

Many teams run it with success. The problem is that we have a starting QB who is very quick but trips on the turf. He also has a strong arm but cannot go through progressions. Lose/lose really

Singleback and I-formation are the fundemental formations in football. So far, LSU has executed them well compared to shotgun runs (with the exception of handoffs to Shep). LSU should rely on them until other teams stop them.

No argument here on singleback. Not seeing a whole lot of future success out of the I-form with mediocre to below avg fullback play. To be honest, Shep should line up at RB in the shotgun more often. Also, Oregon runs quite well out of the shotgun. Its not like there is an inherent flaw in running from the shotgun. There is more of a problem with LSU offensive personnel in every formation...mainly at QB

Another poor excuse for Crowton. He is the QB coach as well you know. Both Lee and JJ would be great QBs if they had a good QB coach. In 2008, the defense made a lot of mental errors. I guess that wasn't Malleveto's fault though.

Poor comparison IMO. Fumbles in UNC game and poor passing tonight are not things that Crowton can do much about, I'm afraid. Jefferson supposedly had training on his mechanics but he looks the same to me. Sometimes a player just doesn't get it. BTW I believe the mental errors have more to do with Miles being HC than anything. Players will play like the personality of their coach, very often. Miles' teams lack a sharpened sense of focus.

Running JJ 11 times for 11 yards is not good playcalling. You are already thin at that position. They insist upon asking JJ to run when he is not good at it or comfortable with it. They also are taking away touches from very capable players. If the QB running is so valuable to LSU why are we not recruiting any mobile QBs. Everybody besides JJ here or being recruited is a pure pocket passer.

Take into account sack yardage (though not much). Would you rather Jefferson pass? I think Crowton is in a tough spot because Jefferson has the speed and quickness but he trips on the ground...it's weird and I bet it doesnt happen when he is wearing the green practice jersey.
