So you're at practice on a regular basis?

Yes.

Quit going in '08. Couldn't take it anymore.

If you haven't been to practices on a regular basis to watch the offensive debacle play out, there's no way you would have Crowton shoulder the blame for the offense.

I can say I've never been to a LSU football practice before. We have been paying GC to be our offensive coordinator for a program that some consider a elite program. LSU's offense was ranked 112th in the nation last season. Yes Miles has been part of the problem as well, but you cant ignore how poorly prepared our offense is and how predictable the play calling is.

Not sure how much Crowton could've done with the OL or how much he could work around it. They were an embarrassingly weak link. Similarly, JJ’s indecisiveness hand-cuffed our offense.

But, I cannot excuse:
a) Crowton has known since Spring ’09 what he had to work with at QB
b) failure to integrate RS into the offense in any kind of meaningful way (he praticed with the team in Spring, '09)
c) failure to make seemingly any/enough adaptations throughout the season and
d) abandoning the simple but effective for the sensational (ex. Keiland running the 1st half vs OM and mostly un-used in the 2nd half until he was injured).

We lost the Ole Miss game because of him. We could have beaten Florida if we had some semblance of an offense. We should have destryoyed Penn State, and yet people still make excuses for this guy. Crowton was overrated in 07, and showed his true colors in 08 and 09. Alleva forced Miles to keep him, and now 2010 looks to be a lost cause on offense. Unless there are significant improvements in 2010 (like our offense ranking inside the top 60) there is no reason to retain Crowton.

I suspect that if we somehow win 9 or 10 games next year, Miles will be allowed to fire Crowton like he originally planned too. Depends if Alleva continues to interfere with what's best for the program.

There is a total lack of execution - period. The play selection isn't terribly bad but the plays never get off the ground.

2009

Penn State-Needing a field goal, LSU was about 25 yards from field goal range. With no timeouts, Crowton calls a middle screen for about 4 yards.

Ole Miss-Needing a field goal to tie, LSU is at Ole Miss's 30 with one timeout. Crowton calls 3 consecutive pass plays. JJ gets sacked and LSU is out of field goal range. Crowton looses LSU the game.

La Tech-Jefferson was hurt and LSU is forced to start Jarrett Lee. Lee misses almost every open WR and plays horribly. Keiland Williams runs wild all over Tech the first half, but Crowot stubbornly continues to throw with Lee in the game. What should have been an easy win becomes a hard fought game.

Florida-Our offense held Florida to 13 points. Never again will we have an opportunity like that vs a #1 ranked team. We could have beaten Florida last year had it not been for Crowton's aneimic offense. Not one TD vs the Gators

Georgia-Defense dominates the first half. Georgia never gets to LSU's side of the field the first half. Score: LSU 6 UGA 0

2008

Alabama-The LSU o-line and Charles Scott play well, rushing for a large amount of yards against the Bama defense. However, Crowton refuses to stop throwing the ball. Lee throws 4 ints and very few completions. Stop throwing if your QB can't hit the broad side of a barn. In overtime, Crowton decides to try a wild cat formation with Richard Murphy at a critical time in the game. Forces 3rd down and another Lee intercepion.

Georgia-Scott runs all over the UGA defense. Crowton is deadset on throwing again and again, even when we pull the game close.

2007

Kentucky-Scott goes to town on Kentucky defense in first half. Crowton abandons the run with Scott. (Although this could be blamed on Larry Porter)

Arkansas- Throws the ball way too much. On 4th and 2, Crowton runs a fake option backwards pass to KeilanD Williams. It was forgotten because it worked...barely.

These are just notable playcalls from specific games. Don't forget the mindless number of short side options called by Crowton. Our option plays actually work when run to the wide side of the field. Crowton was never a good OC. He called one good game vs Ohio State and he was propelled to elit status. I won't be content until the LSU offense is back amongst the best in the nation, and I don't see that happening as long as Crowton is here. I'm sure he is a good person and family man, and the offense should be better next year by deffault, but ne should have been fired last year. He would have been had it not been for Alleva.

i credit this more on Miles then Crowton. Miles should have been on the field arguing that there were 3 secs on the clock...in the mean time had his field goal team run on the field to kick the game winning field goal.

Lee was horrible in this game and I mean horrible. He had WR's laid out for some of the throws he made. Tho we should have been running the ball or make easy throws. Credit more on Lee then Crowton.

I may be wrong but i thought i heard miles say that Lee changed the play into the pass and he wanted to win the game there? so credit that to Lee

predictable formation on 4th down in overtime cost us the game..everyone knew it was run up the middle with scott...especially the Kentucky D knew.

So not all i credit to Crowton, though im sure somewhere in there he messed up some of those games. Not really his fault we didnt have a qb ready when RP got kicked off. Thats on the whole coaching staff.
