You left out Florida. Also, it's quality of competition. LSU has the talent to muscle a lot of teams, but they play down to the level of the competition in most games. What the poster is saying is that you can look at stats and watch the games to see the offense has issues. Rather than acting like their offensive woes don't exist, many fans would like to see a new philosophy. Whether Miles is butting in or not, the philosophy sucks and it will be very difficult to get another championship without improving the offense. And yes, I'm greedy, I'd like to think LSU could win another one in the next 10 years.

Did we play in the Championship last year? I was referring to 2011.

We had an amazing defense and special teams. They probably scored close to the same points as the offense and always gave the offense a short field.

There was a drive summary put together containing all of LSU's scoring drive from 2011. I will let you go look at that on your own. Or you can just continue to think we had the ball at midfield every possession, I really don't care.

Good because I don't give a shite what your opinion is. If you want to spend all your time trolling the LSU site go for it.

Yeah, you come on the LSU board and do nothing but say negative things about LSU and I am the one who looks bad.

Anyone with a reasonable understanding of the game knows it's both.

If Mett doesn't made a bad throw to an wide open R 10 yds from him on 2nd down in out last drive of the bowl game, we win.

If we run the ball twice at 2nd and 2, we probably with that game.

If the D backs don't lose a R on 4th and 16th 25 yds down the field, we win.

If the staff doesn't go prevent with Bama and Clemson, maybe none of us are here crying over a 10 win season after the OL is crippled injuries and we lose starters/game changers right and left.

yeah, i love the guys who say we had a great offense last year. how many times did we fail to get more than 3 first downs in the first half and get bailed out by special teams and defense? our mighty offense couldnt' have traveled the length of the field for a score against the "Sisters of Mercy". they did manage to run it in with a short field most of the time.

Oh wait, it was better before JJ came back. were we executing better with Lee or did the coaches call a better game?

Umm like twice. And only once were we "bailed out by special teams and defense."

The job of a coach is to teach his team to execute.

If plays are not being executed properly, especially when the players are very talented, the coaches are not doing their job.

Inability to execute could be because the coaches can not teach execution. It can also be because the plays being called are not conducive to strong execution. If the defense can tell based on the down/distance and/or personnel grouping what the play is going to be, the offense will have a much tougher time executing the play.

The past few seasons, our offensive tendencies have been so defined that my mother-in-law can guess the play almost half the time before the ball is snapped. I am guessing that most of the defensive coordinators of our opponents can predict the plays at a significantly higher rate than my mother-in-law.

Just because you have a pass to run ratio of around 1:1 does not mean you are running a balanced offense If 80% of the patterns are run within 10 yrds of the line of scrimmage, the defense is not forced to cover enough of the field.

Some relatively minor changes could make our offense much tougher to defend. We almost never run a misdirection play...even a simple counter running play. Our opponents LBs are never enticed to move in a direction other than where the RB ends up (usually up the middle or off tackle).

Some pass plays that have receivers running routes on different levels would give them a chance to get some separation. We seem to run all of our receivers (usually only two) on short outside routes. Any deviation from that is typically a go route. There is very little in between.

I would love to see a real offense run with the players Miles recruits. He brings in great offensive players and should have successful offenses. There is no reason for our players to not be able to execute the offense that does not relate to coaching of those players.
