From a D-Line coach's point of view I am not sure of Brick yet. Hopefully within the next year I will be able to see him coach(practice) and hear him speak. But one thing I do know is that there is no one better than Pete Jenkins at coaching the D-Line! He is the man!

Other than Alem we lack speed. I really like Nevis when he is healthy but I am not impress with the other guys. I hope Sam Montgomery and Micheal Brockers is the truth

this year was a talent/experience issue

Errr talent, maybe.

Experience?

Charles Alexander in his 8,000th start for LSU
Rahim Alem senior
Al Woods senior
Nevis been playing since 07

We didn't have an experience issue at all.

Look at their backups. LSU usually rotates 8 DL during a game.
That said,Woods and Alem under achieved imo.

and Alem may just be a 'run past the qb' specialist.

I think its coaching. It seems they have trouble shedding blockers. Poor hand mechanics. Chad Lavalais and Kyle Williams were less talented than this bunch but always made plays. Its not a strength thing. Moffit has em coached up there we know. I think its a left over problem from Lane. Hopefully we see the merits in Chavis next year.

When he was let go many of the hardcore Bears fans here who really know their stuff were glad to see him go. I got called a negatiger just for saying that stuff last year. According to the players Marinelli is supposed to be a huge improvement - in technique and motivation. Brick aint all that most of our fanbase thinks he is just bcos he has NFL experience and a badass first name.

That's what I said right after he was hired and since then too. Check out his resume'. It's weak. Played linebacker and coached mostly LB at weak sister schools in his career. Fired by da Bears. You don't get fired if you're doing your job competently. Never should have been hired. LSU could have done much better, but look who hired him. Alem's been overpursuing and taking himself out of plays all year. Seen any corrections? Ole Brick is a great yeller at practice though. Screaming coaches are usally the ones that can't coach technique a lick. They yell to cover up their weaknesses as teaching coaches.

Pete Jenkins. Is John Peace still coaching DL at Utah?......

personally, i think our DL is OK. if we had ONE dominant inside rusher, things would be completely different. we have moved so many of our DL guys to OL, i think we have dilluted the postion. the FUTURE LOOKS GREAT THOUGH.

Defensive line shouldn't be that difficult to teach. There shouldn't be too much of a transition required.

We have not seen the line play like most of the other good DL in the sec this year. They like to play contain and stands up at the line looking at the QB pick them apart. No push and no stunts to get in the backfield. I saw bama stunt with 3 linemen and get in the backfield. Why can't we do that?
