This hasn't been discussed here (I don't think), but I really hate that anyone uses ESPN's ranking in a composite or at all. They do a horrible job covering recruiting and, as a result, their rankings shouldn't be taken seriously. He hasn't made that argument, but that is one argument I'd make question the validity of the composite. I'm glad you mentioned Stingley. How can he be a top 2 recruit on arguably the two "best" services that exclusively cover college recruiting and is somehow #37 on a service that doesn't put a premium on covering recruiting.
So while the 247 composite is a nice tool, when you introduce some pretty historically unreliable data like ESPN's recruiting coverage, it kind of taints the overall composite, somewhat. Like do you know anyone that uses ESPN as a resource for recruiting coverage outside watching announcements on NSD? I do see why people like the 247 and agree that dude is clearly taking the highest ranking because it looks better for LSU, but I do see the argument in the 247 composite just being one of many subjective and unreliable evaluations, albeit better than some, but not the gospel either or definitively better than Rivals.

Seems like the desired effect of limiting the effect gross outliers is met. It’s not like 24/7 is clearly fading their own rankings.
You buy into 24/7's statistical virtue signalling. I do not. If they ever publish all their specific data points, then I'll likely change my mind.
But for now, they are just another opinion site doing a sloppy job of pretending to supply statistically relevant data. Glad you are convinced by their shoddy science. Gives me good information about you.

I am Glad you’ll argue so vehemently for a site that is in no way better.
Why did you pick Rival’s ranking when you made this thread?
Do you think 24/7 is anything other than assigning rating from ESPN, 24/7 and Rival and averaging them? MAYBE smoothing out huge outliers?

The concept is admirable. The execution is shoddy.

The execution MAY be shoddy.
You don’t know one way or another.
Based on what I see It works out fine in the end.
Comparing that to Rivals just picking numbers, I’d say it’s better

Rivals is owned by Verizon/Yahoo
24/7 is owned by CBSSports (and they also own Scout.com, and the U.S. Army All American Bowl, and control Pro Football Focus) So, if you think you are getting the unbiased inside sccop from either of them, then good for you.
Again, in my opinion, both are biased, and Rivals is no worse than 24/7

He likes Rivals better today. Because their ranking fits his position better. There is clearly nothing else to it.

After a certain point I can't believe anyone pays much attention to what they say. Sure it's ok in the beginning but after the class has been signed those stars mean nothing.

They really are the worst recruiting site out there. They dont care about it because they cant monetize it very much.

Well, anyway. Congrats to Coach O & Staff for that #3 recruiting class - well done!
