I don't even remember the last time I saw a first down measurement in CFB. Did they just completely do away with it in the rules?

The also tend to spot it at the nearest yard most of the time. Rounding to the next yard marker, if you will.

At the start of each series of downs they spot the ball on one of the yard markers. Even if they have to move the ball up or back a bit.
