I think Duke is "more invested" in their basketball program and is more willing to "take a second look" at the admissions process than Stanford has been.
But maybe that's the Terps fan in me talking.

duke DEFINITELY bends admissions standards for bball players, just like ND does it with FB players

I know, SFP, believe me, I know.
But I was just putting in that mandatory disclaimer in case someone wanted to use my readily acknowledged anti-Duke bias to discredit it.

I honestly don't know much about how Duke gets some guys in, just pointing out that it is possible to succeed at a school with tough academic standards.
And I saw another post about Duke having name recognition, but they had to start somewhere right? Duke was already established by the time I was old enough to pay attention to basketball, so I'm not sure how they were before, or even how known Coach K was before he went there.
Again, I was just pointing out that having tough admissions standards isn't necessarily a bar to getting quality athletes.

Don't know much about the guy or his reputation but hopefully he brings a lot more to the table than his Stanford won/ loss record shows.
We agree.....Saban and Miles

so does brady lose all credit for his 6 tourny wins bc he got lucky and had 2 freaks show up and carry the team?

'04-'05..... 18-13 (Trent Johnson)
'05-'06..... 16-14 (Trent Johnson)
'06-'07..... 18-13 (Trent Johnson)
ranters would have wanted his head if this was LSU's record.........
ok, then tell me which one of you would not.......

pretty sure duke bends their standards more than stanford does
Absolutely. Stanford doesn't compromise its admissions standards like Duke will for athletes.
If you look at what Trent Johnson did at Nevada Reno you will see that htis guy gets the best out of the talent he has available. At LSU he should have access to talent superior to that he had at either Stanford or Nevada. I think he is a great hire, and LSU basketball fans are showing their ignorance in focusing solely on results at Stanford without considering the competition in the Pac-10 during his time at Stanford.

'm calling bullshite on this coaching rumor. No way LSU would hire this guy after what he did in 4 years at Stanford.
we hired Dinardo, Curley, Brady and Smoke--yea we would do it
