Crowton said that both would play and they did.
Lee is 4 for 4 with 2 td passes.

Totally agree.
J. Lee deserves another shot. Maybe a few series vs. Auburn and play the whole second half against Tulane. Let's see what he's learned.

I agree with the article; the shot at JR was uncalled for though and the point of the article could have been made without it.

What? No word from Tomm, yet? This is a subject near and dear to him. He must be outta the country!

+1000000000, Carl, GREAT job... if everybody will remember, in the past, when lsu's qb's were struggling, a different qb would come off the bench, run 1 or 2 series... and it almost always worked out for everyone involved... starter guy qb gets to see things from the sideline, from the coaches point of view, from the backup's point of view, gets to hear the chatter, etc. on the sideline, basically from a 90 degreee angle, just a different perspective, for that 1 or 2 series, gets to settle down a little bit... backup guy qb gets playing time, gets his different perspective, gets his feeling of contributing, gets his learning experience, and builds confidence for when he (god forbid) may have to play RIGHTAWAYFOREVER because of some major problem for the starter guy qb... this part-time platoon-ing, for want of a better term, has always worked, if even just a little bit, and would seem a perfectly natural fit for our current situation... we should have been doing this, all along... one of my gripes about saban has always been that he did not play enough other non-starters to get them some experience, and it always came back to haunt him... miles was just the opposite, playing far more people and getting everyone playing time and experience... and now they appear to have thrown that right out the old window... the only thing that comes to mind at the moment, that could be keeping jj in their full-time, is his enhanced mobility, compared to jl, especially in light of the offensive line problems... but it is time and past time to bite the bullet on that one, and start playing jl more, much more, because the situation right now is just going nowhere...

Jarrett Lee has eye problems. He can't see to throw. We don't need that again.

Very possible......maybe we will see ""the rest of the playbook" against Auburn.

LSU's offense is stuck in a slow gear, and it has the horsepower for so much more. Jefferson's timing is off on so much of what this offense is predicated on, and that's a concern for the rest of the season.
Absolutely.

Another great column, Carl. We can't hold an error-prone freshman season against Lee forever. Young freshman become veteran sophomores and boys become men. In his ability to face adversity square in the face when being questioned by reporters, Lee is already the type of young man that others would want their sons to become and behind whom others would want to follow. Carl's examples of past athletes who overcame adversity should be fuel to our fire for giving this young man a chance. Maybe not to start, but certainly to be inserted into the lineup to spell Jefferson at times. It would only help BOTH young men.

His mom has been limiting his internet time.. he can't be on TD, and play WOW at the same time..
Btw, nice article Carl, well written.

I'm not a JJ fan and never have been. He hasn't shown me anything other than average. I would love to see JL come rescue the team but seriously, how can anyone come off the bench after seven weeks into the season and be expected to perform better than the guy who has started every game this year?
The first time JL throws the dreaded pick-six the fans will come unglued and want to run Carl out of town along with Les and staff.
JL should have been given opportunities long before this point in the season but now I fear it is too late to expect much.

Lee + Vertical Passing Game + Our Offensive Line = Lee laying on his back and throwing balls up for grabs 1 second after he gets the snap because he knows he cannot be comfortable in the pocket

Emphasis on some, but yes give Lee snaps. RS, too. Whatever it takes to wake the sleeping giant.

Carl you make some very good points. I think JJ's confidence is shattered. I still think he has a lot of upside. When his confidence is regained he'll be a very good qb. I just don't see how continuing to put him in Les and Gary's game plan has been helping him out.
JL deserves a chance to play. Why not give him the same chance they're giving JJ now. We don't need to replace JJ but maybe must maybe it would be a good chance to take some pressure off JJ and a chance to let get the offense rolling.
And of course if JL throws an interception in his return the meltdown could affect JJ also.
Is it worth the chance? We'll see what LM and GC come up with!

I'm not a JL fan, never have been one, but if Carl thinks that he gives us the best chance to get the offense in gear then I'm all for it. Especially after reading about how JL handles the press conferences better.

U guys are really funny some times. JJ at this point of his career is average at best. Looks totally lost. in no improvement in the next 2or3 games we will be in trouble for the next 3 yrs.

Good artical Carl and good reading.
1. I think the reason JR has failed in the pros is because he was thown to the wolfs from the start. He went to the absalute worse franchise there could be because there was no one to help him understand the pro system and how things work in the pros, he was left to learn it all by himself. There was no one for him to turn to when he needed advice on what to do and when. That is not JR's fault that fault lies on the coaches and the owner.
2. Yes JJ needs to own up to his responsibilties but, it is not up to you, me or anyone else to tell him that, I blame it on Miles for not making him go out there and face the music. It is part of growing up and I thought that you of all people knew that. I know yall as reporters have a job to do and if you can't you have to blame on someone but, I do not believe the fault lies on a 19 year old I believe the fault lies on the Head Coach for not making him face yall, that is his job so that yall can do your job. To blame it on JJ is wrong when he did what anyone would do and that is hide the very rule that the Head Coach set up. So all Les had to do was go to him and tell him that because he was the QB it was his responsibility to face to reporters and not hide.
3. All Les is doing not letting what happened to him last year happen to him this year. Yall where the one's that yeeled for him to play JJ last year when JL was throwing all those pick sixes and now yall are the yelling for him to put JL back in there. What happens and who is going to get the blame if he puts JL back in there and he throws another two or three pick sixes? That's right yall will be the first to blame Les for it.
