Thanks Mr. Dubois. Another damn fine article. I think the thing that was truly underscored here (if not just a bit understated) was the apparent need for "focus" from the team. Quality coaching is important, but team leaders are even more so in some aspects. I really appreciated the comments from Black and Cutrera who seem to have taken on the mantle of team leaders, taken it from guys like Dorsey and Steltz and Hester and Flynn. This could be the single most important reason that this season is better than last years.

"He sat us down and said, 'Hey, we're going to change things up, and we're going to fix the problem.' We did," Black said. "We sat down. It (the problem ) wasn't even on the football field. We figured out what the problem was, and we all just came together as one, and we played as one in the bowl, and now we're going to lead it over into next season."

What exactly was the off-the-field problem ? It is often referred to but never specified.

"The two main things I see is they know what they want, and they get it," Cutrera said. "They don't say 'Maybe this'll work.' No. There's none of that. They know what they want, and they tell you how they want it, and it's going to work. I like that about them. I like the confidence about them. It gives us confidence. That's one thing about them that I realized."

A lot of posters on other boards call Les stupid. But I think Les is smart, balanced and tough. He did what was necessary when he dropped the only experienced QB he had. He and the team paid for it all last season but I can't fault him for the decision. I'm glad he's our coach and hope he is for a long time to come.

Great job, Carl. I really like Miles and think he's a great coach. However, my only beef with him is that he stubbornly stuck with Lee for so long last year. I disagree with Ciron Black when he says last year's problem wasn't on the field. I'm not sure what was happening in the locker room, but I did see what was happening in the back field and under center week in and week out. Just how long does a QB get to improve his game? The only reason Miles got "under the hood" with QBs and made the changes for Ga Tech is that Lee had his bell rung and Miles finally had to realize that maybe Jefferson was ready to play. I'm glad we're starting a new season and hope Miles won't be so reluctant to bench those who aren't preforming after a couple of games.
