the punter did it for the Saints, your wrong, and let's try this again, if a team wants to waste a roster spot, which is better suited going to a "real" position that is crucial to the team, that is there prerogative.

no team is going to waste a roster spot on someone doing kickoffs.

O.K nimrod. Your point was proven wrong so now you have a new line. And guess what ? I agree with your obtuse arse. It is their perogative. Next.

you are klillin me, ok, but if they don't have the depth because they gave away one of those spots for the kickoff specialist, what do they do then? and we are talkin about havin someone to do the kickoffs, that was the original conversation, not kickers.

Look, I just mentioned a couple of kickers names to give examples of guys who ain't worth a dung-pile kicking off so the team got them some help one way or the other. Remember, the comment pertained to David having to learn to kick-off. Hell, he can kick-off. It won't be pretty but neither or a lot of other NFL'ers. I personally don't like the idea of giving up a roster spot for a specialist and didn't like it when the Saints did it but the fact is, teams who can justify it to themselves , like the niners did with Richey all those years, will continue to do it. I've heard John Madden expound on this subject several times. His theory is that the 70 yard kick-off requires kickers to utilize a muscle group they do not use for place-kicking.

Cundiff only kicked for the Saints for ONE season....Mitch Berger did the kickoffs the years prior to that (you sound like a bandwagon Saints fan if you only remember the season Cundiff kicked-the NFC Championship season)

check this link: LINK

it states the following: During the 2008 NFL season, Rhys Lloyd of the Carolina Panthers was the only player employed solely as a Kickoff Specialist.

Check yo facts

Check your facts zippo. No one said Cundiff kicked more than one year. What was stated was that either punters or KO specialist had kicked during the Carney years. Also no one stated how many KO specialists were in the league last year, only that teams over recent years have done it and that many teams have had the punters do it. This was in retort to the statement that NO ONE did and No ONE would do it and that David HAD to learn how to KO. All absolutely false statements. That's a fact. And one more thing. I was in Tulane Stadium in '67 for that first kickoff. Were you? Have a nice day.
