FWIW, a HBP in the strike zone is already supposed to be ruled a strike.
Don't doubt that but I have seen elbows get hit in the strike zone and they took first base. To be fair, that was before the rule change.

Basically the rule is that if it’s a ball but not in the batter’s box, the batter has to try to get out of the way. If it’s in the batter’s box, the batter doesn’t have to get out of the way but also can’t intentionally move into the pitch.
"the alternative is trying to judge “intent” on a frame-by-frame basis for an event that happens over like 500 milliseconds."
That frame by frame and slow motion deal is the part that pissed me off the most. Why don't we put umpire reviewers up at the plate with a 95 mph pitch coming right at them and let them "act in slow motion". That is 100% nonsense to hold a split section action under scrutiny in slow motion. I saw NOTHING even in slow motion to justify the call of "out". He did drop his elbow but did NOT move it towards the plate. Also, the other ridiculous thing was it was CLEARLY a ball on a 3-2 count which means a walk was coming.
