he has been their 2nd starter in the postseason, then it’s not pitching off.

They bypassed starting their ace in game 1. They pitched off in their first game in Omaha.

I’m not sure why some of y’all are struggling with this this badly lol

I'm not exactly sure how this strategy benefits them in the CWS format

If they go 3-0, then he's fully rested for the champ series either way

He won't be available for their game 3 on Wednesday

If they lose game 3, you'd be asking him to come back on Thursday in some capacity after 109 pitches on Sunday night

Seems like it would have been best for him to pitch Friday, on the off chance they need him on Thursday. Much like Skenes did in 2023 for the 2nd go around with Wake

I simply stated that CCU did in fact pitch off for their first game in Omaha.

Keeping your number 1 on normal rest and rotation doesn’t seem to be pitching off.

You can try to mental gymnastics all you want. The simple fact is that they did indeed pitch off in game 1 of Omaha.

They stacked Friday/Saturday in the first game and then threw Sunday today.

So they saved their ace and pitched off? Thank you!

By definition, pitching off is altering your normal rotation to gain an advantage in a later game. They didn’t do that. They did what they’ve done for several weeks now.

Good. I want to play all the lovable underdogs. First, Little Rock, next Murray State and then end it by crushing coastal Carolina’s little dream season.

I certainly don’t think they pitch off on Saturday. But crazier things have happened!
