Definitely not something that would be a positive for the Coach O would be a good DC crowd.

Just a quick look at the defensive stats from the three years at Ole Miss the defenses declined every year. In almost every category the rankings were in the lower half in his last two seasons. His first season was his best statistically which was still only slightly better than average.

I agree with all that you said. I merely was pointing out that there's less risk when you hire a guy who's succeeded before as a DC. Past performance is no guarantee of future success, but it's safer to go with a guy who's done it before.
And that applies to any line of business, not just football.
